Ketju memo: Liquid Collective (LsETH)

Not approvedPublished by Ketju Research

This memo sets out what the holder owns, who controls it, how holders could lose money, and whether a position can be sold. The advisor decides any client action and amount. Not investment, legal, tax, or compliance advice.

Summary

Ketju does not approve Liquid Collective (LsETH): its permission and blocking controls cost a client more than its legal wrapper and slashing cover have been shown to give back, against approved rETH or wstETH. Liquid Collective is a non-custodial Ethereum staking pool with an institutional legal and compliance wrapper. Validator withdrawal credentials point to protocol contracts, so it is no exchange IOU. LsETH is a non-rebasing receipt whose ETH conversion rate changes daily for rewards, a 10% protocol fee and any shared penalties. Only allowlisted wallets that pass KYC/AML can deposit or redeem directly. An access-denial role can block an address from sending, receiving, minting, redeeming or claiming LsETH. An administrative multisig can upgrade and pause the system, and vetted professional operators hold validator signing keys and must carry out exits. The Slashing Coverage Program and clear language on legal and beneficial ownership set it apart for institutions, but the cover has layers and caps and does not guarantee par. Current primary materials publish no single enforceable coverage schedule and no full map of live authorities and operators. They also do not reconcile the stated 85% holder share with the 10% headline fee. At about the same net staking economics as Lido and Rocket Pool, Ketju will not keep the review open without a measurable advantage to the client.

Review triggers

  • Ketju reviews LsETH again only after live operator allocation is published and no operator controls more than 20% of active stake for two consecutive quarters
  • Ketju reviews LsETH again only after the current multisig signers, threshold, upgrade delay, pauser, allower, denier and oracle quorum are published and reproducible on-chain
  • Ketju reviews LsETH again only after one current coverage schedule states active limits, deductibles, exclusions, claims authority and operator commitments, with total committed cover of at least 1% of LsETH TVL
  • Ketju reviews LsETH again only after fee disclosures add up to 100% of gross rewards and trailing-180-day net LsETH yield is within 25 basis points of both rETH and wstETH
  • Any eligible redemption request older than 30 days, a sale at the proposed size costing more than 50 basis points, or a denial action against a compliant client keeps LsETH not approved
