Regulation · · Ketju Research

U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission · Cboe EDGX Exchange, Inc.Effective

What changed

The SEC designated EDGX's crypto trust options standards operative upon filing on October 6, 2026, in its October 19 notice. EDGX may list options on trusts holding multiple crypto assets under generic standards. Each asset must have an average daily global market value of at least $700 million over the preceding 12 months. Each asset must also underlie a derivatives contract covered by an appropriate surveillance-sharing arrangement. EDGX must consider suspending opening transactions when the specified continued-listing conditions fail.

Who it affects

  • EDGX members may trade options on qualifying trusts holding multiple crypto assets.
  • Advisors may encounter these options in client accounts.

What is still open

  • The SEC may temporarily suspend the amendments within 60 days of filing.
  • The notice does not identify which additional options EDGX will list.

What it means for an advisor

  • Confirm each option's underlying trust, constituent assets, contract terms and trading availability.
  • Review client concentration and options permissions before using these contracts.
