The control finding
Solstice USX is a managed synthetic dollar whose reserves and basis strategies sit under protocol and custody control; redemption and direct access are subject to Solstice operations and terms.
- Backing
- Collateral deployed across Solstice’s disclosed basis, staking, lending, and liquidity strategies.
- Holder’s position
- USX is a managed protocol claim on strategy assets rather than a segregated dollar reserve.
- Redemption or exit
- Eligible users redeem under Solstice’s cooldown and liquidity terms; U.S. persons are expressly restricted.
Dependencies an advisor should record
- Solstice operators, multisig, and timelock
- Strategy venues and custodians
- Weekly reserve attestations
- KYC status and redemption cooldown
Material incident check
- No material control, reserve, or redemption incident was identified in the reviewed sources.
Why this distinction matters
Record Solstice Labs operating roles, multisig, and governance as the controlling party, verify direct-redemption eligibility, and do not treat an on-chain balance as eliminating reserve, custody, contract, or legal dependencies.
On-chain mechanisms coexist with custodians, real-world assets, centralized ordering, or other compellable parties. That finding can coexist with a sound reserve, useful product, or appropriate client role. The grade prevents the on-chain wrapper from being mistaken for the absence of an administrator.
